General Rules

General Rules:

All ropes and riatas used in competition must be not less than (50) fifty feet in length (measuring from the tip of the Honda to the tail or the rope. Judges reserve the right to measure any rope at any time during the competition.
No lope rule is in effect for all roping events.
Once a rope is attached to any animal, the rope may not be handed off to another team member. The team member that throws the rope and catches the animal is responsible for that rope and must dally to this own horse.
Equipment failure may result in negative points at the judges' discretion. Contestants may be allowed to continue, provided the broken equipment does not pose a hazard to the horse or others and is not cruel to the horse.
All present shall conduct themselves in a professional and sportsmanlike manner with the judges' decisions to be respected and regarded as final.
Judges may amend any rules prior to an event with the approval of the event director, Shawn Doblado, and may disqualify any contestant for any rule infraction at any time.
There shall be a 1 year ban on poor sports and a lifetime ban on bonafide jerks.

Behavior and Stockmanship

Bits must be of a traditional design with a traditional western bridle. Ringed snaffle bits can be used with mecate or split reins.
Hackamores must be braided rawhide or leather and have a natural core. Mecates must be used with the hacka more.
Horns must be wrapped in mule hide or latigo.

No foul language
No gaudy line dancer shirts, t-shirts, or knit long sleeve t-shirts, etc.
No printed pictures or words or advertising of any kind may be worn in the arena.
No whiners or sniveling of any kind.

Traditional cowboy attire: long sleeved shirt, long pants, cowboys hat, chaps, boots, etc.

No livestock shall be choked down.
No livestock shall be dragged by the neck while lying on the ground.
All livestock shall be treated in a humane manner at all times.
All livestock shall be in good health; no sick or injured livestock will be used on competition.
